Welcome to November and the official shift in the seasons for us here in NH. The growing season is officially wrapped up with the exception of a few things like our small cold frame garden and a few very hardy crops.
A Look Back at the Month
October is one of the months with the biggest changes on our homestead. We enter October with a garden still in full swing and end with the potential for snow and a garden that is rapidly dying back.
We’ve been busy cleaning out gardens (once we leave them for the birds for a few weeks) and doing some simple fall tasks. Here’s a list of what happened around here this October:
Did some work on the chicken coop and patched up some drafty areas
Built a new cold frame
Build a new goat feeder
Emptied out all our hoses and put away our watering systems
Cleaned out garden beds and put on a top dressing of compost where needed
Did some more seed collecting
Finished up harvesting
Planted Garlic
